I agree that today’s beer has a lovely aroma (grapefruit? papaya?) and a great dry finish. Lots of flavour in what seems like a pretty low ABV brew. Thanks Albert!

Indeed, la Grisette (#10) etait excellente! Gazeification on point, belle dentelle. Arome fruite, une touche de bonbon, vraiment invitant. Le gout, je classerais ca comme une saison. C’était vraiment bon.

Merci Albert!

Guys, it’s not because it was the @President ’s beer that you have to pretend it’s good. Let’s be honest here.

Thanks, I was really happy with the result. 4.5% abv. It was the first time I used this farmhouse yeast from Lallemand. Not diastaticus which is interesting.

Are there late/dry hops or is it all coming from the yeast?

Ha, ha, ha… brown nosers.

Luc stout : Good stuff, I like it! It’s been a week now can’t remember the details but I remember enjoying it while watching star trek discovery. Good late night combo.

#9 Prez beer : First impression in taste was to much bitterness and harsh taste. Then once it settle I found it to be pleasant. Tasted a bit malty, and floral ? Light esther. Highly carb, which is nice. Don’t know much about this style but the beer is good IMO.

There are late hops. For a 19L batch,
10 g mosaic, 10 g loral 0 min addition hops and
10 g of loral, 10 g ella dryhop.
I was hoping to keep the ella spiciness, but it’s not quite there.

Catching up on my calendar:

@ericpare The banana bread beer was really excellent. Very impressive.
@President The single was a light easy drinking beer. No tuna. Maybe the gang is looking for more to chew on cause it’s winter and our senses are under-stimulated? Thank you!
@Albert The grisette was very tasty. Not a style I’m familiar with but pretty similar to a Saison. Went down very nicely. Well done.

Two beers on the program tonight:

@JamesKirk ’s Märzen and @Yac.b ’s M.AL.T. leftover Lichtenhainer:

I’ll be brief: I thought they were very well brewed beers. I must say I’m not familiar with Lichtenhainer style but it was very much close to the BJCP description: sour, smoky, some apple esters and what an impressive clarity!

The märzen was great in every aspect.

Thanks for sharing!

En effet, la Marzen de @JamesKirk est tres bonne. Cuivré, clair, malté, clean. J’ai vraiment aimé. C’est bon des lagers meme en hiver

My box had James’ cider and it’s also very good. The English Breakfast tea comes through at the beginning and then leads to a nice dry, perfumy cider finish. Thanks!

I had the cider too. I agree very good. I think if I didn’t know there was tea I would think it’s the apple tannins. Quite refreshing! Good job.

Le pur délice de la soirée. Belle richesse de saveurs et certainement la 2e plus belle étiquette du lot (après celle de @President ).

Thanks Alexandre B! I’m picking up a funny note in the beer that I found in a recent Baltic Porter I made. The closest I can match it to the standard off flavours is buttery diacetyl but I’m not sure, I have a feeling it might be something stuck in my nose, or maybe something specific to dark roasty malts, but if someone else picks up on it I would love to know what it is and how to solve it.

Doing some catching up:

10 Albert’s Grisette
Solid beer, not exactly my go to style but enjoyed drinking it nevertheless!

11 James’ Marzen
Loved it, clean and malty!

12 Alexandre’s Imperial Stout
Good presence of roast, rich body, nice bitterness to balance out the sweetness.
Excellent imperial stout, hats off to the brewer!

#12 barleywine : Pour moi, cetait plus un impérial stout. Riche, malté,. Je l’ai dégusté pendant une heure. Du bonbon en bouche. Merci @alexbelisle1980

I just noticed that the bottle label said Imperial Stout but the calendar said American Barleywine.

Wow ! Nice body, malty, roasted, I didn’t really notice the alcool level which prove that beer is well made and balance. Like also the bitterness that stay a bit on the tongue. Amazing beer.
