Yes, bottles are being consumed. They serve to make the beer more easily shared. I can usually count on there being a variety of brews in the fridge when we’re heading to a friend’s house. However, I’m starting to see the limits of this storage. I opened up a bottle from 2 years ago and it was contaminated in a less than enjoyable way. I’m committed to dig into my cellar and start testing old batches to see if any need to be dumped. It’ll be a fun experiment. Some excellent homebrews in there, or at least they were when they were filled. Like Denis, Barleywines, Tripels, imperial stouts, etc.
En regardant mes dossiers je brasse pas mal de façon constante depuis au moins 5 ans avec environ 16 batchs de 20L par année.
La grosse différence c’est que dans les derniers 2 ans environ j’ai pas mal uniquement brassé des bières de 3 à 4% pour diminuer ma consommation d’alcool. Par exemple cette année ma bière la plus forte était de 4.6%…
