Based on our feedback from the annual member survey, we are looking to start a BJCP study group that meets either weekly or bi-weekly to talk, taste, and learn our ways through the BJCP styles. Each session will consist primarily of the following:
- Read through the style description together
- Evaluating a locally available beer(s) for the week on how well it matches the style
- Discussion of the style (e.g. other commercially available examples, how to brew, adjacent styles, etc.)
- Some discussion of what the BJCP is and how it relates to home and commercial brewing (e.g. Who defines a style, how to take the exam if you’re interested, how to enter a competition, etc.)
If you are already a BJCP recognized judge who would be willing to help, or a member who would be interested in participating email me at president@montrealers.ca
