Bonjour à tous!

Après un franc succès en 2021 et en 2022, c’est avec grand plaisir que nous annonçons officiellement que le MontreAlers Ale and Lager Throwdown (M.A.L.T.) est de retour pour 2023! Le M.A.L.T. 2023 est la compétition de style BJCP du club. Tous les détails, ainsi que l’inscription, sont disponibles sur montrealers.ca/malt/ .

Les inscriptions sont ouvertes, et vous pouvez ajouter vos bières dès maintenant!

Informations clés:

  • Ce concours servira pour accumuler des points pour le circuit “Canadian Homebrewer of the Year” (BOTY). Voir https://www.breweroftheyear.com/ pour plus de détails.
  • Le BOTY du Club MontreAlers sera également couronné lors de cette compétition, le titre étant attribué au brasseur membre des MontreAlers qui aura récolté le plus de points dans les sous-catégories et lors de la ronde du Best of Show.
  • En raison du nombre limité de juges certifiés BJCP dans notre région, nous limitons la compétition à 150 entrées au total, et 3 par brasseur.
  • Les entrées sont dues au plus tard le 8 septembre 2023.
  • Les séances d’évaluation auront lieu dans la fin de semaine du 16-17 septembre 2023.

Hello All!

After the previous years’ success, it is with great pleasure that we can officially announce that the MontreAlers Ale and Lager Throwdown (M.A.L.T.) is back in 2023! The 2023 M.A.L.T. is the club’s BJCP-style competition. All of the nitty gritty details, as well as registration can be found at montrealers.ca/malt/ .

Registration is open, and you can enter your entries right now!

Key notes:

  • This competition is participating in the Canadian Homebrewer of the Year competition (BOTY). See https://www.breweroftheyear.com/ for more details.
  • The MontreAlers Club BOTY will also be crowned from this competition, with the title given to the Club member who collects the most points from subcategories and the Best of Show round.
  • Due to the limited number of BJCP certified judges in our region, we are capping the competition to 150 total entries, and 3 per brewer.
  • Entries are due September 8th, 2023.
  • Judging will take place during the September 16-17th weekend.

We are up to 144 registered and 94 PAID entries as of 11:45p.m., August 1st. Current limit unless we find more judges is 150 PAID entries, so get 'em registered AND paid

Nous venons d’ouvrir quelques places additionnelles pour le concours. Faites vite si vous voulez inscrire vos bières. Les inscriptions seront fermées lorsque le nombre de 200 bieres inscrites et payées sera atteint.

We’ve just opened up a few more places for the competition. Hurry if you want to register your beers. Entries will be closed once the number of 200 beers registered and paid has been reached.

J’ai un peu trainé pour le drop off est ce que c’est correct si je la dépose ce matin dans une boite Chez Président ou trop tard? Merci !

Malheureusement je voulais aller drop off mes bouteilles et l’adresse n’apparait plus sur le site.

Any spaces left to volunteer as a judge or steward? I’ll be coming from Toronto this Friday, leaving Sunday.

Is anybody arriving from out of town and staying overnight? I’m looking at accommodation options now; hostel, AirBnB, spare couch, park bench…

The judging is complete! We are in the process of compiling the scores and prepping the awards ceremony (date and time TBD, stay tuned!). In the meantime, we have a bunch of empty bottles at the brewery if anyone is interested.

Let me know by the end of the day if you want some!
