Running into an issue I can’t solve on my own. my ball lock liquid-out post seems clogged with hop debris and my phantasm powder for my DIPA and the post itself is stuck solid, won’t budge no matter what I try to unscrew it with. Prior to filling it I had already run PBW and Star San through the lines so it must be the hop debris.
I’m in Villeray/Little Italy. If anyone’s handy with kegs and has 15 minutes to swing by and take a look, I will absolutely make it worth your while in beer plus some of the finished product.
Kind of on a clock since I need this pint-ready for a St jean party I am hosting haha
So annoying when that happens…
Not really in the area, but you could try pushing gas in at high PSI using a liquid quick connect attached to your gas tank? (it will probably get clogged again though..)
Yaccine has already posted up what I’d do first. Run gas down the post and out the prv. I used a pipe cleaner from an arts and craft store to dislodge some matter but you may struggle to keep it clear if there’s a lot of debris in the keg.
Do you have a floating dip tube? You could attach it to the gas post and run gas in the liquid tube to pump it out from the top with a filter on the floating dip tube.
If you can’t get gas down the liquid tube then you need a lid with a gas post. I have one I can lend you. Message me.
Hey! No floating dip tube
I was able to unscrew everything and clean it however when I put co2 back and tried pulling a pint it got stuck again haha. I think i will carbonate a couple days without the liquid line attached to the debris can settle more. Worried the same will happen again.
Hey, Yacine and Graham really covered the ways i would have i advised you to go with that issue! Pushing CO2 out is the key according to your issue, i believe. I know it sucks big time (been there before!) Im not in Montreal, but if you need some hands on support, i could make it friday night or this weekend to help out. Next time, using a muslin bag (as im sure you’ve done), really helps out with that kind of issue when hopping big time. When that happened to me, after pushing CO2 through the outpost, i just gave up and transfered to another keg racking with an auto-syphon into a new keg, then flush the keg with CO2, and drinking the beer fast before it oxydized!!! Share us how this goes
I’m sharing this in case anyone else should have the same trouble. If your liquid post is truly clogged, you can use a keg lid with a post on it and attach a floating dip tube. This will pull the liquid above the sediment and allow you to get it out of the keg.
Hopefully it works to get most of that delicious DIPA put of the keg!
Il m’est arrivé la meme chose avec une IPA.. j’avais beau forcer du co2 dans le out et ca rebloquait aussitot. Jai meme devisser le out post pour verifier le resort et rien.. assez frustrant
